Kitty was accepted through the Veterinary Match program to a rotating small animal internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Charlotte, NC, and started a week after the (initial) wedding! Alex's work has been amazingly accomodating and he was able to work from home during the year-long internship. After applying through the match again, almost moving to Washington DC, and taking a pivot to move to Missouri, they ended up in Columbia, Missouri at the University of Missouri. She will be applying again through the match, this time for a radiology-specific residency/PhD program (3-4 years). When they were initially discussing where to apply during the match, Alex was up for the challenge and simply said, "Let's have an adventure." He has taken every change of plan in stride.

Last year, we found an apartment just outside of Charlotte in the Ballantyne area, about 15 minutes from Matthews, NC, where the main clinic was located. Rowan and Figaro were most excited about the extended living room area called the "sunroom". They loved to take lots of naps in sunbeams.

This year, we have had a blast back in the Midwest in Columbia, MO at Mizzou. We found a cute house, and the cats love sprinting up and down the stairs. We have been able to have more game nights and have a little better schedule this year (only one day a week on ER!).

We are getting ready to pack up and head to the opposite coast and will be in sunny San Diego for a year. For veterinary medicine, you can practice as a general practitioner or continue to get a specialty certification, this usually takes 5+ years, and is like getting a master's degree, a Ph.D., then doing more post-doc research after already becoming a doctor. Luckily, we are having a great time and have enjoyed getting to experience so many different parts of the country.

The next few years will be full of adventures. We hope to sneak a honeymoon in as a two-year anniversary trip. We are currently looking at taking a vacation to Ireland. It fits both of us well. There will be relaxing in pubs, but also some historical tours, and maybe a Game of Thrones tour!
