Galianthus Sorchanna

Galianthus Sorchanna

Galianthus Sorchanna, or Galia as she prefers to go by, is a princess of the Sorchanna line of Kitsune from the East Fingerling Isles. Her family have ruled from the capital in Eibalak Forest for centuries. The Kitsune are a proud people, and despite losing their homeland, they strive to maintain the same order and obedience that was observed on the islands. She has grown up hearing the stories over and over. A young, sweet Kitsune was approached in the Forest by a friendly stranger. They played together, but the stranger made her promise to never reveal their friendship. One day, the friend revealed himself to be a snake, a Vishkanya. His people ruled a small island in the East Fingerlings and wanted more power. They attacked, killing the young Kitsune, and wounding many in the process. Her own mother and Father barely escaped, both badly burned by the attacker's poison.

Her family fled and the Wyrmwood Court of Fey welcomed them in with open arms, even allowing them to rebuild part of the forest with their sacred jade trees. Her mother didn't know she was with child until they set foot in the forest, she was met with a vision the first night there, that she would have a girl born very soon. The Fey treated them with respect and kindness, and when Galia was born 9 months later, they celebrated with the Fey for 3 days, as was the Fey tradition. On the first day, she was held by everyone in the Sorchanna family--Kitsune who had previously emigrated to Bregne Fenn came from all over the continent to pay their respects. On the second day, all of the Fey of the court took turns holding her and giving their benedictions. On the third day, she was blessed with the morning dew by the Queen of Wyrmwood Court and blessed with the soft earth by the King of Wyrmwood Court, then she was named after the Snowdrop flower, the first flower her family encountered as they stepped onto the new land. The third day of the celebration, her mother's favorite snow leopard gave birth as well, to a single female cub, who immediately bonded with the new baby.

Galia grew up as a princess of the Kitsune Court, but also as a favored child of the Fey. She and Juniper spent hours in the forest playing with Dryads, braiding hair with nymphs, planting flowers with pixies...Even those who met her and didn't know of her status with the court, it was clear by looking at her that she was fey-touched. While most Kitsune have basic magic, few have the type of raw power Galia began expressing unintentionally at a young age. She always assumed people were overly friendly, prone to giving her things for free, or helping her with little expectation of anything in return (though she did try to repay kindnesses once she was old enough to understand the value of things). So when she grew another tail, she was quite shocked to learn that her interactions were most likely influenced by her charming people with magic. The family decided to return to Wyrmwood Court so that she could practice this Sylvan strain of magic with tutors who were better versed in such areas, and learn to control her casting. Her great uncle recognized this change happening and extracted a promise from Furus to watch over Galia.

While most of the Kitsune share rooms, Galia as given a room hidden on the third floor, partly to let her practice magic, and partly because no one wanted to share a room with her. Even Juniper, her companion is fey-touched, her white fur iridescent and shimmering, her eyes blue with a pink ring. She truly values her friendships with Furus and Adalia, and strives to make more friendships the "normal" way, though she is always taken aback when people don't instantly love her, as they did before she was aware of her magic. She tends to stay in her human form, but can switch to her fox form or her kitsune form at will. Through some secret coaching, she can now turn into any person she has seen, though she has yet to reveal that to anyone.

Her mother has said she has "grand plans" for Galia, and that she will be the one to lead her people home. But what is a home that she has never seen? Who are people who are afraid of her difference? Can she lead the Kitsune if she is more Fey than Fox?
