Epaul is a more rural country, still mostly smaller villages and towns. Thick forests cluster through the land. There is a strong sense of community pride and a close relationship to the earth. Pockets of wild magic can spring up and most of the forests are full of wild creatures, though very few fey. The landscape has the look and feel of the Black Forest between France and Germany, a bit dark and spooky Brother’s Grimm atmosphere, but friendly citizens. Towns are typically dotted with small stone cottages painted in a Scandinavian style, a few temples, and a small market, with less than 1000 people in a town. Mostly humans, dusk elves, half-species, or “monstrous” races inhibit the land.
Dwarves were mercenaries in all of the battles between Epaul and Epaulette and may not receive as warm of a welcome, but even while terse, the culture is to offer hospitality and sanctuary for anyone who visits, but don’t expect a second helping.
The capital is Innisfjord, at the north-west most peak, along the craggy shoreline. The three largest cities are Blackblood Forest (Midna’s home, and close to the border of Eidur Mountain), Ilwyth (home of the Tribes Shamans, close to the border of the Brez Pass), and Madeira (home of the Wood Shamans, towards the north along the border with Epaulette). The two rangers guilds are Pine and Maple, located near the Blackblood Forest and Innisfjord, respectively.
