Alora is helping the survivors at bloody baron inn/red pony tvern. They ask her to ome with them to the guards and get aid for thornyside. She agrees but needs clothes, they give her one of elaine’s dresses they stole. Carindrina and nira ask talia for beer to go (at like 8am) and galia convinces her with two gold pieces, so she gives them the worst cups and lets them go. They go talk to the captain of the guards-kerwyn. He agrees to rally the towns but says they will need help. They should talk to the dryads as one of the girls they rescued was part dryad and the dryads will be able to go through the forests faster than humans. They forgot that uden was still carrying the corpse of the drowned maiden so kerwyn asks them if she is ok, and they awkwardly explain they want him to talk to Alora instead, who steps out in a beautiful gown and the group tries to ship them but remembers that his wife is also on the guard and would likely murder him and all accomplices if he cheated.
Adalia and galia talk to the dryads who agree to go through the forest to weatherby and round up help
The rest of the group goes to the abbot house to use the tunnels. They decide to cast speak with dead on the drowned maiden (they do not ask her name). They ask if she knows who killed her. She explains that elaines father killed her. When they ask why, she says its because he loved her more than his wife. Confused they ask about the knife. It is cursed. When someone willingly accepts the knife then is asked to choose who they love more, the dagger compels them to murder the one they love most, hence the name “dagger of the grieving widow”. Everyone loses. The wielder loses the one they love most, the one they love most dies, and the one that is left knows that their partner does not love them. Shit sandwich all around.
Talked with elentiya, she needs more information on how to remove the collar and asks if they could bring elaine to her to see if the collars interact or she can get more information. Says she can contact her sister and suggests that they could go to the monk’s library in the red sands. Its a little obscure, but most academic-minded individuals know of it. It is outside of corazon, where venus is from. Also mentions a book shop owned by one of the missing children’s parents in spindledown.
